How thoughts drive the ego
Can you talk about the mind’s over-indulgence in thoughts and how this drives the ego?
The ego is a result of awareness losing consciousness of itself and burying its head in the sand of thoughts, emotions, sensations, and movement. This infuses a sense of ‘I’ into the mind and body. When awareness lifts itself out of this mire, the sense of ‘I’ is also withdrawn. The mind plays the biggest role in our feeling of identity because the hologram of ‘I’ is generated in the mind and projected from there. Part of this projection is the urge to appear unique to others who, ironically, are embroiled in the same psychological complication on their side. The mind immersed in thought and regulated by the ego thinks it is awareness until awareness realizes itself, which comes as a jolt.
